Trump Wins GOP Race in 2024 with Fourth Record-Setting Performance

Former President Donald Trump won the Nevada caucuses on Thursday, adding to his momentum in the Republican presidential primary and taking another step towards securing its nomination. With earlier victories at New Hampshire primary and Virgin Islands caucus elections this week boosting his delegate count considerably, Trump is inching closer towards reaching the 1,215 threshold required for official nomination.

Latest: Donald Trump wins Nevada's Republican caucus

Trump claimed all 26 pledged delegates in Texas, giving him an edge going into South Carolina’s primary on February 24 where he could win most or even all its pledged delegates.

Interviews conducted with many voters before the caucuses revealed they overwhelmingly planned on voting for Donald Trump without reservation. While some expressed reservations over his connections to Russia, most expressed optimism for their future with Trump in the White House.

“He’s the guy that can bring things back to normal,” declared retired Air Force pilot Mark Hughes, an enthusiastic supporter of Donald Trump who drove more than four hours from Lake Tahoe to attend the caucuses. “That’s something all of us hope for.”

Nevada results underscore how much work Cruz and Rubio still have ahead to convince voters they are best suited to stop Donald Trump, who is riding an anti-establishment wave among Republican voters. They also show just how difficult it will be for them to overcome his advantage among GOP leaders who control state party caucuses processes – one Haley has strongly opposed and will not participate in.

The party’s executive committee, comprised of several state officials and Republican Party chairman Michael McDonald in Georgia, is under scrutiny amid allegations that they attempted to influence the 2020 presidential election by favoring Trump over other candidates. Investigations are ongoing; McDonald has been placed on leave but his board maintains their faith in him.

As for 2024, early state voting is increasingly playing an influential role, as candidates invest time and resources into states where early balloting will determine how much of an edge they hold before March 5’s Super Tuesday primaries take place – an outcome which could reshape the field and confirm an eventual Republican nominee.

The results of the 2024 Republican Caucuses will be made official late Thursday evening, so check back often as votes are counted and live streaming of the caucuses begins – it takes place between 5 pm and 7:30 pm ET (local time) (Voting will occur between 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m).
