Trump Campaign Demands Iowa Station Stop Airing Attack Ad

With only days until Iowa’s crucial caucuses, former Gov. Kathleen Blanco has become a target for both her rivals and supporters of Donald Trump. Trump allies have intensified attacks against her – most recently over her response to a question regarding slavery’s causes.

Pro-DeSantis PACs have also begun airing ads against her; her campaign sent letters to station managers demanding they stop airing the commercials.

The ad violates the station’s public trust

Nikki Haley has been on a campaign trail, trying to win support for her interventionist foreign policy views from voters ahead of Iowa caucuses and Republican primaries scheduled for March. But Trump allies are attacking her relentlessly as momentum builds ahead of next month’s GOP primaries.

Fight Right Super PAC has already spent over $9 Million since it formed last November, according to Michael Adams from Atlanta law firm Chalmers, Adams, Backer & Kaufman who sent letters out across Iowa asking station managers not to air ads that contain “blatantly false and misleading statements”.

Adams also accuses the ad of breaking federal election laws by failing to disclose that its funds came from a political action committee. If airtime for this ad were given, civil and criminal penalties under federal law may apply if airing occurred.

The ad is false

With just days until the Iowa caucuses, Haley has ramped up her campaigning in Iowa and sharpened her criticism of President Donald Trump. According to her, America cannot endure another term under him and needs someone with more forward-thinking foreign policy views. Unfortunately, Haley has recently been targeted by Trump allies as well as MAGA Inc, an affiliated super PAC supporting Trump’s reelection bid, for her immigration-related comments and positions while serving as governor.

Fight Right’s advertisement claims that Haley did not support her husband’s efforts to build a wall along the Mexican border, saying instead it required more ground troops, equipment, and funding in order to be effective. Her team accuses the super PAC of spreading falsehoods while Adams at her station has labeled the ad as being significantly harmful to Haley’s campaign and asked them immediately stop retransmitting it or airing it altogether.

The ad is misleading

Former President Donald Trump and his allies are increasing attacks against Nikki Haley as she looks to gain momentum ahead of Iowa’s initial caucuses on January 3rd. Haley, former ambassador to the UN and college-educated white women are seen by some Republicans as having the ability to upset Trump in Iowa’s primary race and rally behind her as candidates.

American for Prosperity, the political arm of billionaire Koch brothers’ conservative network, recently gave her an important boost with their endorsement. American for Prosperity employs 10 full-time staffers in Iowa and plans on sending teams of activists door-knocking throughout the week – which may provide her with even greater momentum – not to mention some generous donors as well as influential Christian conservative leaders who support her campaign.

DeSantis’ campaign seized on an offhand comment made by Haley during her debate with DeSantis in Iowa on Wednesday night: if Iowa does not choose her as their nominee, New Hampshire can “correct it”. The comment seemed to indicate she expected DeSantis would finish ahead in Iowa.

The ad is defamatory

As former UN Ambassador and South Carolina governor Nikki Haley gains ground in Iowa polling, Donald Trump and his allies have launched a barrage of attacks against her. Both his campaign and an affiliated super PAC have spent millions to target her with ads that question everything from her Civil War answers, her attempt to remove Confederate flags from Statehouse grounds while governor, to her views on immigration.

Fight Right has also run an ad supporting DeSantis that accuses her of opposing a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and her views on transgender rights. Additionally, it highlights comments she made regarding immigration; specifically that “illegals” shouldn’t be seen as criminals and that she supports legislation mandating employers verify workers identities through E-Verify.

Haley supporters view the attack ad as evidence that Trump and his allies are concerned about her increasing popularity, and have tweeted several articles disputing its claims.
