Taylor Swift Is Not Performing at the 2024 GRAMMYs?

The 2024 GRAMMYs are just months away, and this year the Recording Academy has assembled an array of artists to keep the excitement going onstage. Joni Mitchell will make her Grammys debut and there will also be performances by Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish Travis Scott MGK as well as others – though there has been one notable alterations: Taylor Swift is no longer scheduled to appear. According to reports she will no longer perform.

News of her planned absence comes amid weeks of speculation that the pop star would opt out after being passed over in multiple categories, including best album, song and music video of the year. Unfortunately, The Grammys hasn’t issued any statement on the matter as of yet.

According to Entertainment Tonight, sources close to Taylor Swift confirmed she will not perform at the show due to a rescheduled tour date and her subsequent decision not to accept this gig.

If the reports are accurate, this would mark the first time in 16 years that Swift would skip an awards show she was nominated for. With Recording Academy rules making nominations more challenging than usual this year, she still managed to land one through Midnights and its lead single “Anti-Hero.”

SZA led this year’s nominations with nine, followed by Phoebe Bridgers and Serban Ghenea with seven each. Jon Batiste, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, Boygenius and Lana Del Rey all earned nominations in each of the Big Three categories – album, record and song of the year.

Even through her turbulent career, 12-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift remains a fan favorite at awards shows, often making headlines for her red carpet appearances. Most recently she has gone viral by greeting Harry Styles warmly at an award show and unwittingly creating the “Drunk Taylor” meme online.

The GRAMMYs will take place on February 4 in Los Angeles and, along with performances, will feature Recording Academy announcement of nominees for best new artist as well as other awards before the telecast begins. It was reported earlier this month that Fred Again, Jelly Roll, Gracie Abrams, and Victoria Monet were vying to win this category.

Last week, Song Of The Year nominees were revealed, representing a range of genres and artists – dance anthems to ballads – released this year. View a complete list of nominees here.
