Stress

Daisy Ridley first made headlines as Rey in Star Wars nearly 10 years ago and recently opened up about its effects on her health in an interview with Inverse.

Daisy recently disclosed that filming the three Star Wars movies resulted in her suffering stomach ulcers due to stress and exhaustion. These ulcers appeared as holes in the wall of her stomach.

Stress

Daisy Ridley has revealed in a new interview with Inverse magazine that filming Star Wars movies, The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker caused stomach ulcers due to their extreme workload. Ridley, 31, who portrays Rey in this popular sci-fi franchise, spoke of her experience filming them and how their production created health issues for her during filming sessions in their entirety.

Stress ulcers (commonly referred to as peptic ulcers) are open sores that form on the stomach lining and upper part of your small intestine as a result of continuous inflammation caused by long periods of stress, medications and medical conditions that exacerbate it, etc.

Ridley stated that filming the films and dealing with constant anxiety took its toll; by the time The Last Jedi hit theaters in 2017, she had holes in her stomach wall from all the stress she endured during shooting.

Anxiety

Daisy Ridley never expected that playing Rey in the new generation of Star Wars movies would come with such tremendous pressure; recently, however, she revealed to Inverse exactly how anxious working on it had made her feel.

Stress from her busy lifestyle caused a serious stomach condition to arise: Peptic Ulcers (also referred to as Stress Ulcers). According to Mayo Clinic, they are open sores found on the stomach lining or upper part of small intestine.

Thankfully, the actress found a way to heal her stomach. She attended therapy and focused on her mental wellbeing; taking breaks when needed and learning when to take them. Now, her relationship with acting has improved, thanks to both a pandemic and fan support.

Exhaustion

Daisy Ridley didn’t anticipate how much her role as Rey would take its toll on her body – in an interview with Inverse, the 31-year-old actress revealed how the constant stress caused by filming schedule and anxiety left holes in her stomach wall.

British actress who stars in Peter Rabbit and Ophelia has said the stress-inducing experience of filming Star Wars increased her anxiety to such an extent that by the time The Last Jedi hit theaters in 2017 she had developed ulcers on her stomach wall – according to Mayo Clinic stress ulcers (also called peptic ulcers) are open sores that form on either the inside lining of your stomach or upper small intestine, often due to overworked nerve endings in these organs.

Ridley has openly discussed her struggle with anxiety and is now working toward improving her mental health. She’s even joined filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy to produce a documentary on depression and anxiety.

Self-isolation

Daisy Ridley recently disclosed in an interview with Inverse that filming Star Wars films has taken an enormous toll on her physical wellbeing. She cited how playing Rey in The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker has led her to develop stomach ulcers due to its stressors.

Ulcers were so severe that they caused her to experience stomach wall tears, making it impossible for her to fully enjoy either the success of her films or gentler forms of celebrity.

Self-isolating when sick with COVID-19 is critical in order to stop its spread, meaning staying home and limiting contact with people in order to protect yourself from further infection. Unfortunately, staying isolated for extended periods can be challenging if you suffer from mental illnesses like anxiety; here’s how you can overcome that hurdle.
