Though other candidates have cancelled campaign events due to the weather conditions, Ramaswamy remains undeterred and believes he has an excellent shot of finishing in Iowa’s top three candidates.
Blizzard Conditions
With only two months until Iowa Republican caucuses, the field of presidential candidates is narrowing rapidly. Former President Donald Trump remains in a commanding lead in polls while other contenders such as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley have fallen further back.
While some campaigns have been forced to cancel events due to adverse weather, others such as Ramaswamy continue their events regardless. He is hosting four events across northwest Iowa while taking shots at Haley’s team for canceling one in Sioux City while his event was still going on.
At an Iowa City event, one voter told Ramaswamy that their 66-year-old father has never been more impressed with him. Unfortunately, however, Ramaswamy has come under criticism for pushing conspiracy theories about COVID-19 and the September 11 terrorist attacks; his refusal to retract these comments despite criticism from bipartisan legislators and media outlets was met with harshness by lawmakers and media.
Snow
With only weeks left until Iowa’s caucuses, Ramaswamy has accelerated his campaigning at an unprecedented pace. Already this year he completed what’s known as the Full Grassley Tour: visiting every county named for former Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) twice this year.
Zach Henry, spokesperson for Never Back Down (Ramaswamy’s super PAC), told The Epoch Times that Ramaswamy planned on visiting every county on January 13th.
BJ Tiemessen, 19, from Cedar Rapids has been keeping an eye on Ramaswamy’s campaign over the last three months and plans to attend his inaugural caucuses on January 15. He appreciates how Ramaswamy delves into controversial ideas but worries they could alienate some voters. Additionally, Tiemessen likes how his mission of draining Washington is echoed by Ramaswamy; thus he plans on voting for Ramaswamy despite eating mostly Pizza Ranches alongside occasional cheese enchiladas!
Storms
With less than two months until Iowa’s First-in-the-Nation Caucuses, longshot Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is working his way across Iowa as fast as possible – but this week’s freezing temperatures and snowstorm has disrupted his plans considerably.
He lashed out at former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley for canceling events due to Hurricane Florence and Trump surrogate events which were also postponed, but has pledged to campaign regardless of weather conditions.
Ramaswamy admits his hectic campaign schedule is taking its toll, yet he claims not to feel overworked or burned out. His caffeine-free diet and physical fitness regimen he attributes as key factors; running, tennis playing or pushups being just some ways he keeps himself physically fit before campaigning; eating his favorite fast food restaurant Pizza Ranch provides energy boost on the road – though admittedly more downtime would help greatly “just chill.”?

On Friday afternoon at Iowa State University’s Phi Gamma Delta fraternity house, Ramaswamy faced an audience that seemed predominantly male and were questioning about cryptocurrency, “woke” indoctrination on campus and the crime crisis in Chicago. They presented him with several challenges on these subjects but Ramaswamy managed to impress many by his answers to all their queries about these subjects and more.
Ramaswamy received some help during a snowfall from an unknown individual. Even with this unexpected assistance, it’s unlikely to be the final weather-related setback in his presidential campaign, but nonetheless he remains relentless as he heads toward January 15 caucuses.
Visit each of Iowa’s 99 counties at an impressive clip, in hopes of upping his poll numbers by single digits. He places special importance on drawing young voters out to his events – hoping he can outdo Donald Trump in this age cohort – betting he can outperform him among this cohort through grassroots campaigning and targeted advertising; his campaign does not invest heavily in TV advertisements in favor of shifting resources to other efforts.
