This week’s court documents related to Jeffrey Epstein – who is suspected of sex trafficking – offer us familiar insights with a few unexpected twists.

Johanna Sjoberg mentioned the late King of Pop in her deposition, along with US magician David Copperfield and other well-known figures.

Michael Jackson’s name has surfaced in newly unsealed court documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, an alleged sexual trafficker who was recently jailed on charges related to sex trafficking. These records form part of Virginia Giuffre’s lawsuit against Ghislaine Maxwell who acted as Epstein’s partner until her imprisonment in 2021 on similar counts.

Johanna Sjoberg, who was recruited by Maxwell and Epstein to be a massage therapist, testified during her deposition that she remembered meeting Michael Jackson at one of his Florida homes and that US magician David Copperfield asked if she knew that girls were getting paid to find other girls to work his parties.

Sjoberg was born in January 1980 with Swedish roots and raised in a Christian household before enrolling at Palm Beach Atlantic University to fulfill her ambition of becoming a family therapist.

Jean-Luc Brunel

Brunel provided minor models for Epstein to use at his social gatherings with politicians, celebrities and Wall Street executives. Johanna Sjoberg recalls meeting magician David Copperfield and Michael Jackson at Epstein’s Palm Beach home but she did not accuse the late pop icon of any sexual misconduct or abuse during court testimony.

Brunel, who worked for Karin Models before founding MC2 model agency in France, was arrested as part of a French investigation into Epstein’s alleged sex trafficking ring. Brunel previously pled guilty in Florida to procuring underage girls for prostitution but served only 13 months before he was set free.

The recently unsealed Jeffrey Epstein documents include many names previously known to the public but held back in legal filings as “John Does.” Leonardo DiCaprio, Bruce Willis and Cate Blanchett are just three A-list celebrities included among many high-profile individuals mentioned in these files, which also list two former presidents and members of the British royal family.

Virginia Giuffre

Virginia Giuffre, born 1983 in California and moved to Florida when she was 14, claims she was subjected to sexual trafficking by Jeffrey Epstein and his associates when she was 14. Since then she has become embroiled in one of the world’s highest-profile legal disputes, with a civil suit filed against Prince Andrew set to commence this autumn in New York.

On Wednesday, documents related to Giuffre’s defamation lawsuit against Ghislaine Maxwell from Epstein associate, were made public and unsealed for public view. This material reveals numerous people with connections to deceased sex offender, such as royalty, former presidents and prominent scientists such as Stephen Hawking.

Court filings outline a lengthy deposition in which Giuffre accused Maxwell of acting as her madam and sexually abusing her. Additionally, Maxwell is charged with instructing Giuffre to give hedge fund billionaire Glenn Dubin erotic massages (though his wife Eva Andersson-Dubin denies this). Despite two women wanting their identities kept private during depositions, their identities became public knowledge.

Ghislaine Maxwell

Ghislaine Maxwell, 60, has been serving a 20-year prison sentence for her part in helping financier Jeffrey Epstein sexually abuse underage girls. Recently, she was moved from Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn to FCI Tallahassee in Florida, which houses low security prison facilities.

Maxwell and Epstein shared an ambiguous and difficult relationship. According to a 2003 profile in Vanity Fair, Epstein described Maxwell as his “best friend”, helping organize his social calendar while also abusing her and others.

Prosecutors in New York initially charged her with sex trafficking and related crimes related to grooming and abusing girls, then later filed a superseding indictment that extended back until 2004 and added Minor Victim 4.

Maxwell denied all charges during her trial and insisted she was being targeted as an innocent bystander to make room for Epstein, who committed suicide while in custody while awaiting trial this year. Additionally, she has disputed the authenticity of an iconic 2001 photo featuring herself, Prince Andrew and Virginia Giuffre – with whom Epstein settled a civil suit settlement this year.
