Patrick Mahomes Leads Kansas City Chiefs to 2nd Straight Super Bowl Title Patrick Mahomes delivered the game-winning 3-yard touchdown pass in overtime as Kansas City defeated San Francisco 49ers 25-22 and became first repeat champions since 1999. Mahomes earned Super Bowl MVP for both editions, joining Travis Kelce with career day stats of 115 yards and two touchdowns while recovering two fumbles and blocking one punt on special teams for Kansas City Chiefs’ success in winning Super Bowl LIII.

This game was full of mistakes and mistakes, but its intense fourth quarter and overtime produced an exciting finish. When Jake Moody kicked a 53-yard field goal for Kansas City and trailed 22-19 after Mahomes connected with Kelce for 22-yard gain, setting up Butker’s 29-yard kick to tie it at 22-19 with 3 seconds remaining.

Even with Mahomes’ stellar play, Kansas City’s defense struggled. While they managed to sack quarterback Colin Kaepernick just once and force no turnovers, their mistakes proved costly in the end.

Mahomes began poorly, throwing an interception early. He would eventually go on to complete 34 of 46 passes for 333 yards and two touchdowns while Harrison Butker made history by setting a Super Bowl field goal record with his 57-yarder.

Post Malone performed the national anthem and Reba McEntire delivered an entertaining halftime show for an estimated crowd of 61,629 spectators. Usher electrified the crowd with his performance which featured appearances by Alicia Keys, H.E.R. and Jermaine Dupri. Jay-Z, LeBron James and Paul McCartney were among other celebrity guests present for this historic event.
