Revolut, the digital banking giant, is entering the telecommunications space by offering phone plans tailored specifically for travelers in the UK. This move marks Revolut’s debut into this sector not just domestically but worldwide.

This new feature eliminates roaming charges while providing seamless connectivity overseas. In partnership with UK mobile network operator 1Global, this launch will be successfully executed.

Basic app users get a standard eSIM plan

Revolut, the digital banking platform that simplifies transfers and payments with daily interest paid on savings, cashback, low-fee crypto, and more, has introduced phone plans designed to enable travellers to remain connected abroad without incurring exorbitant roaming charges. Customers using Revolut’s basic app experience will be able to download an eSIM plan which they can top up via data recharge through Revolut app so they can roam like locals while avoiding expensive roaming fees.

Revolut and 1Global (formerly Truphone) have entered into an eSIM plan partnership, providing virtual SIMs that are stored directly onto smartphones – eliminating the need to swap out physical SIMs during international travel. Furthermore, Revolut’s collaboration with 1Global represents its desire to become a comprehensive “super app” offering financial and telecom services.

Revolut’s move into phone plans should prove lucrative over time as they expand their user base and diversify revenue streams. They are following in the footsteps of other challenger banks by offering a broad selection of services designed to attract long-term customer bases while building loyalty among its user base. Retail spending on travel connectivity solutions, such as roaming packages and SIMs is projected to surpass $30 billion by 2028.

Premium Ultra package subscribers get 3GB of data globally

Revolut, the British financial technology giant, has launched phone plans designed specifically to meet travelers’ mobile data needs while traveling overseas. Starting soon, Revolut will begin rolling out eSIM tariff plans that can be stored directly onto devices instead of swapping physical SIM cards out while traveling.

Their new service is targeted towards consumers who may encounter unexpected roaming charges while traveling abroad and is designed to save them money by bypassing the high rates charged by major mobile network carriers. Premium Ultra package subscribers will have an eSIM that comes equipped with 3GB of global data that will refresh each month allowing them to remain connected throughout their trip whether traveling for vacation or business purposes.

Revolut partnered with UK mobile network operator 1Global (formerly Truphone) to offer this service, and its general manager of premium products Tara Massoudi states that this eSIM marks an essential step in Revolut’s plan to become a “financial super app”, with services including bank accounts, currency exchange, insurance policies and travel booking.

Revolut’s phone eSIM will soon become available to all UK customers with devices compatible with an eSIM, with those installing their SIM before May 1, 2024 receiving an exclusive introductory offer of 100MB free international data usage.

Industry experts view Revolut’s venture into phone plans as a lucrative opportunity

Revolut has ventured into the lucrative travel connectivity plans business, offering its eSIM free to basic app users while those on its Ultra package will gain 3GB of data globally. Partnering with mobile network operator 1Global (formerly Truphone), they launched this plan with support from 1Global’s eSIM offering free roaming charges while traveling.

Neobank’s expansion into telecom is a novel move by any finance firm and could create multiple revenue streams as it strives to become a “super app.” Retail spending on travel connectivity services could reach $30 billion by 2028 according to market intelligence firm Kaleido Intelligence.

Revolut’s phone plan is just the latest addition to its already impressive banking products and services. Revolut offers multi-currency debit cards which allow customers to exchange currencies at favorable exchange rates, money transfer services that allow users to send funds abroad for significantly less cost than traditional banks, spending analytics tools that automatically round up purchases to save more, savings vaults that automatically round up purchases in order to save even more, automatic rounding-up purchases to increase savings and automatic rounding up features that round purchases up automatically – plus savings vaults that allow users to automatically round purchases automatically rounding purchases up automatically to save more.

Revolut, however, faces difficulties as it transitions from challenger bank to global banking giant. Revolt’s latest troubles include an outrage about their corporate culture and an executive leaving as part of this scaling up process reportedly linked with financial director resignation.
