China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi Calls for International Peace Conference on Gaza

As the Gaza war enters its 100th day, mothers of Israeli hostages are appealing for their children’s return. They do not wish for them to face the same fate as Palestinian hostages.

China’s foreign minister Wang Yi has called for a larger and more authoritative international peace conference and timetable for two-state solution to be drawn up and met in Cairo with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit to discuss this matter over the weekend.

China calls for Gaza peace conference

Israel’s ongoing conflict on Gaza has caused massive destruction to homes, tall apartment blocks, hotels and hospitals – leading doctors and medical staff from Palestinian hospitals to evacuate patients for fear of Israeli forces raiding and firing on them. One Palestinian doctor from Al Shifa hospital told Reuters he had to stay away from windows out of safety precaution after Israeli forces raided it and opened fire on it.

China’s foreign minister Wang Yi has proposed convening a larger and more authoritative peace conference as well as setting out an effective timetable to implement the two-state solution. He further encouraged influential nations to play an objective yet constructive role.

Australia’s Foreign Minister Penny Wong also called for a sustainable ceasefire in Gaza as she kicked off her tour through Jordan, Israel and the occupied West Bank. Wong used this visit to advocate for an exit strategy from current conflict as well as long-term peace through two state solutions.

Hamas to disclose fate of Israeli hostages

Hamas may use hostage-taking as a strategy to deter Israel from carrying out military attacks that could kill its own citizens, as well as generate morale among their supporters by showing they can frighten and harm an adversary more powerful than themselves.

Killings have raised doubts over whether a truce can survive and its extension. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated he was unwilling to discuss negotiations until Hamas stopped targeting Israeli soldiers.

At one point during a brief ceasefire in November, Hamas released more than 100 Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. Unfortunately, many who returned were malnourished, infested with lice, sick or injured and traumatized upon returning home according to interviews conducted with their families. Devorah Cohen, who first saw her nephew Eitan released, described what Eitan experienced as being “horrors”. Eitan confided to Devorah that when Hamas militants watched footage of hostage taking on October 7 they would hit him when crying so as not to risk reprisals by Hamas militants watching videos would hit him hard and punish him severely when watching videos or watching videos would hit him hard as punishment from Hamas militants when Hamas militants would hit him when watching videos as Hamas militants would hit him if Hamas militants saw video footage and hit him if crying would hit him hard enough by Hamas militants who would hit them to prevent future hostages being taken hostage again after 7th October 7th when Israeli hostages took one another Israeli hostage-taking took place that day on Oct 7th; Devorah Cohen has spoken about this experience; according to her nephew Eitan lived through “horrors,” too if watching videos would show the hostage-taking took place later watched footage.

He informed Devorah Cohen when Hamas militants watched videos showing of Hostage-taking happened he’s watching footage showing to hit him if crying! Devorah Cohen reported they watched videos showing images causing terror. He told Devoras militants watched videos showing of hostage in Oct 7th when Hamas militants watched videos showed her nephew Eitan told Devorah Cohen said her nephew Eitan told her son Eitan had told her her when Hamas militants would hit them hard. He told her when watching videos showing footage was being hit he told her how Hamas militants watching these so much so much so much they hit her son Eitan!! Eitan’s footage.

Qatar’s Emir calls killings in Gaza illegal

Israel’s military offensive in Gaza has resulted in over 2,500 Palestinian deaths and 240 Israeli soldier casualties, sparking a devastating humanitarian crisis – with hospitals struggling to operate due to ongoing airstrikes.

Hamas released a video showing three Israeli hostages being held captive in Gaza, sparking calls for Israel to end its military campaign and reach an agreement that could return these captives home. Gadi Eisenkot, Israel’s war cabinet minister, supported reaching an arrangement that could return the captives home safely.

Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani strongly denounced “terror as a means of state policy,” calling for unifying efforts to protect cyberspace and regulate it on the basis of international law. Furthermore, Sheik Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani identified Israel’s response to Arab peace initiatives such as settlement expansion, Judaization of Jerusalem and attacks on holy sites as one of the main obstacles to realizing two state solution – its escalated conflict being another source of instability for regional stability, according to Sheik.

Al Ghad video-journalist killed

On 7 October, Yazan al-Zwaidi of Cairo and London-based Al Ghad TV was killed by Israeli fire while working on a documentary about Israel’s attack on Gaza, having recently interviewed Mr Regev of TMI (Trash Midrash in Hebrew Daily Maariv) as well as Mr Regev from TMI himself. These events have resulted in renewed calls for increased international involvement in Middle Eastern affairs.

Wang Yi of China stated his support for convening a larger, more authoritative, and effective international peace conference – with an agenda outlining a timeline for the implementation of two state solution – including listening closely to any legitimate concerns of parties in the region. He called upon the Security Council to give equal weighting for legitimate concerns of parties involved.

SERGIO FRANCA DANESE of Brazil stressed the dire situation in Gaza leaves no other option but for the Council to press for immediate humanitarian relief and life-saving aid. He reminded everyone present that when Brazil served as President, a draft resolution calling for such an injunction had been submitted but blocked by one permanent member; further warning against further conflict escalation.
