A Dunkin’ Donuts Toilet Mishap Left Paul Kerouac Covered in Waste

Paul Kerouac of Flagler County in Florida is filing suit against Dunkin’ Donuts over an allegedly malfunctioning toilet which exploded and covered him in human waste and urine, according to reports from witnesses. Paul seeks over $50,000 in damages as the result.

Kerouac left the bathroom and asked employees for assistance cleaning himself up, to which they responded that they were aware of a toilet issue.

What Happened?

Paul Kerouac of Florida is filing suit against Dunkin’ Donuts after his visit to their men’s room became traumatic. Kerouac alleges that while in the bathroom of Dunkin’ Donuts on Aloma Avenue in Flagler County two years ago for coffee and snacks, while in there the toilet suddenly exploded covering him with “debris including human feces and urine”.

Kerouac filed his lawsuit this week alleging that an explosion at Dunkin’ Donuts caused severe and lasting injuries, including bodily harm, pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life and prejudgment interest as well as postjudgment interest payments and costs of action. We reached out to Dunkin’ Donuts but have not received a statement in return; Kerouac is also seeking damages of over $50K against both franchisees and stores, according to WESH 2. His complaint was filed this Wednesday with Orlando state court proceedings.

The Injuries

Paul Kerouac of Florida filed a lawsuit against Dunkin’ on Wednesday, alleging severe and long-term injuries as the result of an exploding toilet at one of their Winter Park locations, covering him in human waste, according to USA Today. Kerouac claims he entered the men’s room on Aloma Avenue near Orlando on January 6 and it exploded, covering him in human waste containing both urine and feces, according to reports by USA Today.

Kerouac sought assistance from employees and managers at the store after emerging from the bathroom, and was informed by them of a problem with his commode, due to prior incidents being reported by employees and management. According to the suit filed against them by Kerouac’s lawyers, however, neither they nor anyone at their company took steps to fix or warn customers about its dangerous condition.

Kerouac’s lawsuit seeks damages of more than $50,000 for physical and psychological injuries, such as pain and suffering, disability, loss of enjoyment of life, mental anguish and medical expenses.

An anonymous customer, Paul Kerouac, filed a negligence lawsuit against Dunkin’ Donuts citing that an exploded toilet at one of their locations caused severe and long-term injuries that have required over $100,000 to treat. Kerouac claims to have experienced “severe and long term injuries.”

According to the suit, Kerouac visited a store in Winter Park, Florida – a suburb of Orlando – on January 6 and entered its men’s restroom. While in his seat he claims the toilet exploded leaving him covered with human feces and urine; upon seeking assistance from employees they informed him they had previously seen such incidents occur.

On Wednesday, Kerouac filed a suit in Orange County court against Flagler County Dunkin’ Donuts to seek compensation for injuries he alleges to have suffered at its facility. According to the suit, Dunkin’ Donuts franchise had a responsibility to maintain their premises properly and inform customers about potential hazards or risks present on its premises.
