Ducks

The Ducks completed their road trip with an emphatic victory. Troy Terry, Adam Henrique and Shakir Mukhamadullin all notched points while John Gibson made 75 saves.

Isac Lundestrom opened the scoring, followed by Anthony Duclair and Frank Vatrano who equalized late in regulation before Frank Vatrano, representing the Ducks at this weekend’s All-Star Game, sealed their victory with 53 seconds remaining in overtime.

Marc-Edouard Vlasic Goal

Marc-Edouard Vlasic may not be known for his offensive production late in games, but this 36-year-old has recently gone on a scoring run and managed to silence critics who claim that his prime has passed him by.

Anaheim Ducks’ representative at the NHL All-Star Game added another goal in overtime, defeating Kaapo Kahkonen with a wrist shot from the point and beating Kaapo Kahkonen high blocker side on an overhead shot from point. Troy Terry and Isac Lundestrom also scored goals for Anaheim in three consecutive victories.

Teuvo Teravainen scored twice to lead Carolina on its current homestand and is tied with Los Angeles Kings and St Louis Blues for a wild-card spot in Western Conference playoffs.

Troy Terry Goal

Terry scored with 8:20 left in the third period to break a 3-3 tie and give Anaheim a 3-2 lead, collecting the puck after Radko Gudas threw a shot towards goal that Gibson deflected away from goal. Since then, Terry has scored two goals and earned eight points from seven appearances, and this marks two seasons where he exceeded 60 points totals in each campaign.

At 133 goals scored for his career, Terry now ranks second among Ducks goal scorers, surpassing both Jason Zucker and Mikko Koivu. Terry now boasts nine goals, 22 assists, and 82 shots-on-goal through 34 games this year.

Forward Jordan Green was taken off injured reserve on Sunday and could play against Detroit on Monday. He currently has 23 points through 36 contests this season and 10 in three appearances since returning from an upper-body injury – making him an attractive option in deeper fantasy formats.

Ducks

Frank Vatrano Goal

Frank Vatrano had every intention of following his usual routine when he came off the ice at Great Park Ice on Thursday: treatment, food and possibly some meetings. Instead, when he entered Rink 3 of Ducks locker room his plans suddenly changed dramatically.

Vatrano broke his six-game goalless drought when he used Troy Terry’s pass in a 2-on-1 rush during the third period and fired a wrist shot past Sharks goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen for a winner that lifted Anaheim Ducks over San Jose 3-2 at Honda Center. Vatrano led all team scorers with 22 goals this season – helping the Ducks take home victory!

Vatrano also helped set up Cam Fowler’s goal in the second period and is playing an instrumental two-way role on Benoit-Olivier Groulx’s newly formed second line for Anaheim. In two games alone he has four points and now boasts 17 goals, 26 points, 102 shots on net, 48 hits, 22 blocked shots, 11 PIM and an overall plus-6 rating after 14 outings this season.

John Gibson Goal

John Gibson has rebounded nicely from a difficult start to the season and proved his worth against San Jose in two strong periods on Friday. Gibson stood strong as an elite goaltender when facing off a barrage of shots from San Jose.

The third period saw increased pressure from both teams, but they managed to hold off. Brandon Montour scored one time with an amazing backhander into Martin Jones’ corner at the top corner.

Gibson allowed three goals over his last four appearances, but he managed to secure enough support from his offense this time to seal a victory for Anaheim against Minnesota on Saturday.

Lukas Dostal will serve as backup to Gibson. While neither goaltender is recommended as starters in fantasy leagues, both can help your team by scoring some extra goals. Be a Stathead and enjoy surfing this site without ads!
