DHS: Above 70 Percent of Illegal Immigrants Are Being Released Into ‘US Communities’

Homeland Security has claimed a dramatic reduction in border encounters since Title 42 ended on May 11, but that claim is misleading. In reality, the Biden Administration continues to allow illegal aliens into the U.S. through mass parole pathways and CBP One mobile apps without tracking their whereabouts or court appearances.

What is this?

The Biden Administration claims it has reduced the number of migrants encountered between ports of entry since Title 42’s expiration in May. But closer analysis reveals that most illegal border entrants have simply been renamed and redirected – not detained at all.

Most migrants entering the US now entering through CBP One app between ports of entry are being paroled into the country with appointments; once in, they’re told to report to immigration court or officials. But the numbers who actually show up for their appointments is very low.

The government’s practice of admitting illegal aliens into the US without first appearing before an immigration judge to have asylum and court cases adjudicated is problematic as it amounts to admitting them without due process, in violation of due process clause of Constitution. Furthermore, this system creates a loophole which could allow terrorists and cartel members to use this system to enter the country illegally and obtain fake IDs issued by DHS before flying out from U.S. airports.

Why is this happening?

During fiscal year 2021, 35.3 million nonimmigrants were admitted into the United States for nonimmigrant purposes, including foreign nationals visiting for tourism or business and those from Visa Waiver Program countries who did not require visas to enter.

Typically, illegal border crossings have seen a decrease during summer due to smuggler activity and changes in U.S. enforcement policies; this year however, this did not happen.

Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security, has blamed this on external factors, such as climate change and an ineffective immigration system. But he must also accept responsibility for his employees who work tirelessly in dangerous locations like border patrol stations in the desert Southwest or Coast Guard stations in Alaskan arctic regions defending our nation against terrorists and criminals – facing extreme temperatures, wildlife hazards, communicable diseases and even assailant attacks while doing incredibly difficult and important work that deserves our gratitude.

How is this happening?

ICE has been releasing illegal aliens into communities without detaining them, including migrants who were caught at ports of entry using Secretary Mayorkas’ misleadingly named “lawful pathway” program or those pre-vetted through CBP mass parole port programs.

ICE previously housed family units–adult noncitizen parents or legal guardians and juvenile noncitizen children–in Residential Centers. However, beginning March 2021 they converted these facilities to staging facilities and began releasing these individuals so that they may fly out from airports; this is known as Alternatives to Detention (ATD).

At the border, not everyone who attempts to cross has been successfully apprehended; an estimated 660,000 successful illegal border crossings that did not lead to arrest – both undetected and detected entries – represent an astounding contrast with 2019’s 90 percent apprehension rate. Thanks to ATD and mass-parole port programs, ICE has also deported many Cuban, Haitian and Nicaraguan migrants with legitimate asylum claims back into their countries of origin.

Conclusion

The Administration’s claims of reduced illegal crossing numbers at the border are an illusion created by their deliberate channeling of migrants seeking illegal entry through CBP One mobile application and rampant parole abuse. Congress needs to act now and end this unlawful policy.

Last month, ICE agents arrested over 130,000 individuals at the southern border, according to preliminary figures. Of this total number, 24% were family units (children traveling together with parents) 16 % were unaccompanied minors while 70% were single adults.

MPI’s Immigration Data Hub contains estimates for 11 million undocumented immigrants currently residing in the US; with most being concentrated in California (Los Angeles County); Texas (Harris County); and Dallas County. MPI also maintains key migration statistics related to undocumented populations as well as estimated state populations.
