Students began gathering for the 7:40 tip-off, creating an electric atmosphere from the start. Creighton quickly took control early as Steven Ashworth (who would finish with 20 points) took advantage of Huskies turnovers to score on a baseline cut and hit two three-pointers within 15 seconds to build an 11-point advantage before halftime.

Francisco Farabello and Green gave Creighton an energy boost off of the bench in the second half, hitting three-pointers to narrow Creighton’s lead down to single digits at halftime (43-29). UConn closed within 17 at first media timeout of second half when Tristen Newton made back-to-back layups that cut it to 13, prompting Baylor Scheierman to quickly respond with three of his own to make things interesting again – though that would be as close as they got in this game.
