Billionaire investors are supporting Nikki Haley as they believe she stands the best chance at dethroning former President Donald Trump. Investors such as real estate executive Crow and Fidelis Realty Partners co-founder Lynn Davis have hosted fundraisers in her support.
Other wealthy donors who have supported her campaign and super PACs include Stanley Druckenmiller, Henry Kravis and Ken Langone according to invitations reviewed by Bloomberg News.
Billionaires Lead Nikki Haley’s 2023 Fundraising
Nikki Haley is gathering new donors after suffering narrow defeat in Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primaries to Donald Trump. Her donors believe her foreign policy credentials, strong relationship with Israel and willingness to challenge former Presidents will give her a better shot at winning Republican nomination than other candidates.
Haley’s political action committee reserved $10 million in advertising this fall for Iowa and New Hampshire more than Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis had reserved. This move signals her campaign’s increased confidence, which features an “audacious yet robust” plan to tackle inflation while reforming entitlements.
Haley’s leadership PAC raised $50.1 million last year through donations from Wall Street and corporate sources, roughly on par with what the super PAC supporting Trump raised. Although these funds don’t belong to her directly, Haley hopes they will help establish her as the clear alternative in GOP primaries.
Billionaire Harlan Crow
Harlan Crow is well-recognized among Republican donors as an influential conservative donor, yet has come under political scrutiny as the hidden patron of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas who failed to disclose an array of lavish gifts from Crow.
Dallas-based real estate developer Greg Kopplin’s donations provide insight into his political preferences. While he generally favors Republicans, Kopplin spends heavily supporting moderate Democrats like Kyrsten Sinema.
Crow donated to both of Haley’s congressional campaign committees as well as to the Senate Leadership Fund and a super PAC run by top Senate Republicans, as well as giving thousands to candidates in the House such as anti-choice Rep. Xochitl Torres-Small of New Mexico and Tom O’Halleran of Arizona – two anti-choice representatives. Furthermore, Crow has given to right-wing activist groups such as John Bolton super PAC as well as being trustee of conservative American Enterprise Institute – this information gathered by Insider from public Federal Election Commission filings
Billionaire Paul Singer
Paul Singer is a billionaire who founded Elliott Management and writes columns for the Wall Street Journal. An activist investor and political activist, Singer has made substantial donations to conservative groups while convincing Republicans to support same-sex marriage. Furthermore, through the Paul E. Singer Family Foundation he has supported several charitable projects.
Singer is well known for his charitable efforts. Additionally, he actively engages with Republican Party politics and regularly files friend-of-the-court briefs with the Supreme Court. Additionally, he signed the Giving Pledge pledging half of his wealth during his lifetime to charity.
The Street has been making every attempt possible to unseat Donald Trump from becoming President in 2023; however, many of their major donors are beginning to concede that it will likely happen without significant disruption within the Republican field and it seems likely that Trump will take home their nomination once more.
Billionaire Ken Griffin
Ken Griffin is a billionaire hedge fund titan and currently ranks 35th on Forbes’ American Rich List. Additionally, he’s known for collecting record-setting properties, pieces of art and generous contributions to charitable causes.
Citadel founder Kenneth Griffin’s most recent gift to Harvard was reported by Crimson magazine last year: a $300 million donation. In 2023, Griffin Catalyst was launched to focus his civic engagement efforts in six key areas: Education, Science & Medicine, Upward Mobility, Freedom & Democracy, Enterprise & Innovation and Communities.
An especially prized possession for him was his 16,000-square-foot mansion at 3 Carlton Gardens in London, which boasts an indoor pool and lush private gardens – once home to Charles de Gaulle during World War II, as well as being close by Buckingham Palace.
While Donald Trump plans his dream Florida mega-mansion, many Americans struggle with their monthly rent payments and wonder how they’ll cover expenses this month.
