California startup Arc made waves a few years back by featuring its electric technology on two luxurious cruisers. Now they’re back with another mass-market boat: a premium wake sport model that promises outperforming gas boats at half their cost.
Battery
Arc believes the $4 billion sports boat industry is ready for an upgrade, and their new Sport model claims to outshout conventional gas-powered boats while saving users thousands in operating costs.
It comes equipped with enough batteries, ballast and wake shaping technology for an exceptional wave-making experience, including a large entertainment screen and JL Audio speakers for superior sound. Furthermore, its in-house software is constantly being improved through over-the-air updates.
Arc has attracted some of Hollywood’s biggest investors such as Will Smith and professional basketball player Kevin Durant as investors, raising more than $110 million in venture capital funding thus far. Shipments should commence later this year. Arc’s founders include former rocket engineers from SpaceX, Tesla, Rivian, Lyft as well as marine industry powerhouses Brunswick MarineMax.
Motor
The 226-kW*h battery pack from CleanTechnica gives enough range for an average day on the water, depending on speed of travel. According to company claims, low speeds should last over 24 hours while higher speeds quickly drain it away.
The boat features other premium features, including an auto-retractable hardtop tower that can be activated with just the push of a button and provides an adjustable tow point, seating up to 15 passengers comfortably and boasting JL Audio speakers, wireless phone charging capability and large entertainment screen for viewing stats and video recaps. Furthermore, an advanced digital dash and the capability of receiving software updates over-the-air complete this package.
Charger
On average, the Sport can last over 24 hours when operating at low speeds; higher usage such as towing will deplete its battery more rapidly.
Unlike gasoline-powered boats, the Sport doesn’t produce carbon dioxide emissions or disturb marine life on lake bottoms. According to its creators, operating this boat is easy and can save users thousands of dollars each year in operating costs.

The Arc Sport comes equipped with enough battery and ballast to create a large wake ideal for surfing. Additionally, it comfortably seats 23 people and features an auto-retractable hardtop tower. Riders can take advantage of JL Audio speakers to blast music through while keeping up to date on their journey via video recaps and stats displayed on a large entertainment screen.
